Friends of the Library

History

The citizens of Milwaukie have always been dedicated supporters of their library. In 1952, the "Friends of the Milwaukie Library" was started, primarily through the efforts of Zenas Olson. Mrs. Olson was described by the Milwaukie Review as being "one of Milwaukie's most faithful fighters for an adequate library." The Friends of the Ledding Library adopted a new name and became a nonprofit corporation in 1979. With the help of a dedicated group of tireless workers, the Friends have pursued their mission -- to support the Ledding Library through volunteer services, fundraising and the sharing of information that will benefit the community. Become a Friend

It's easy to join the Friends of the Ledding Library. Membership forms are available at the library's front desk or become a Friends online. Yearly membership is just $10.00. A sustaining membership costs $20.00 per year. A lifetime is $100.00. To stay informed on the Friends’ activities, learn more about the Friends, volunteer or donate, please go to leddingfriends.org.

Fundraising

Proceeds from fundraising projects allow the Friends to support programs for children and adults, as well as to assist the library by purchasing special equipment and materials that otherwise could not be afforded.

Used Bookstore: Support the Friends by buying used books at the library. The bookstore is open, Sunday: 12 - 3 p.m., Monday: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Tuesday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Wednesday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Thursday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Book Donations: The Friends are accepting donations, to arrange a donation email the Friends at leddingfriends.info@gmail.com. Donations are not accepted at the library.

Monetary Donations: The Friends welcome monetary donations too. Donations are accepted at the Friends of Ledding Library Book Store or online. Checks should be made to "The Friends of the Ledding Library." Please email leddingfriends.info@gmail.com indicating the intent of the donation general donation, membership, memorial, etc.

Plant Sale: Annually in May. Veggie starts, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, native plants and garden books at unbelievable prices!

Book Sale: Sundays through October (weather permitting) from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Friends of the Ledding Library will be waiting to sell books you'll love next to the amphitheater at the north end of the Ledding Library building.
