Meeting Materials and Minutes

The Code Tune-Up project has been discussed by the Planning Commission and City Council at several meetings. The materials and minutes from these meetings are an excellent source of background information on the project. The content of the meetings are summarized below, and links to the meetings are provided at the bottom of the page. Planning Commission Meetings

May 25, 2010: Briefing #1 -discussion of project goals and the City’s code history and current review procedures.

July 13, 2010: Briefing #2 - discussion of time limits and extensions of land use approvals.

August 24, 2010: Briefing #3 - discussion of variances and nonconforming situations.

September 14, 2010: Briefing #4 - discussion of variances and nonconforming situations.

October 12, 2010: Briefing #5 - discussion of conditional uses, amendments to maps and ordinances, and development review.

November 9, 2010: Briefing #6 - overview of all proposed procedural improvements and policy changes, with a focus on amortization of nonconforming uses and expiration of land use approvals.

December 14, 2010: Briefing #7 - update on project status and distribution of draft amendments.

January 25, 2011: Hearing #1 - hearing continued to February 8, 2011.

February 8, 2011: Hearing #1 continued - unanimous recommendation to City Council to adopt proposed amendments.

City Council Meetings

November 16, 2010: City Council briefed on the status of various zoning code amendment projects, with a focus on the Land Use and Development Review Tune-up Project and the Residential Design Standards Project.

December 21, 2010: Briefing on how the draft amendments would change City Council’s role in the land use review process.

January 4, 2011: Overview of land use and development review process and draft code amendments in preparation for March 2011 hearing.
