Falling leaves, and the codes that apply to them
We are getting to the point in the year where the fall colors start to appear and all the leaves begin to fall. Read about some codes that relate to the falling leaves including stagnant water and illegal dumping.
Stagnant Water - If you allow your gutters to fill up with leaves and not clean them out, it can create a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Illegal Dumping - The leaves that fall on your property are yours. You cannot blow, rake or in any way coax them into the street or to a neighbor’s property, even if the leaves came from a tree outside your property. Instead take them to one of our free leaf drops.
If you have any questions call Code Compliance Coordinator Tim Salyers at 503-786-7409.
