Scott Park Project
Scott Park is located beside the Ledding Library at 10662 SE 21st St., next to Spring Creek Pond in downtown Milwaukie. The site is designated as a natural resource area due to the valuable habitat it provides for domestic and migratory waterfowl. The park is a key pedestrian destination and serves as an important site for residential, commercial and civic functions.
PARK CONCEPT PLANNING
The city is creating a new park concept plan through a comprehensive public engagement process. Throughout 2022, the city hosted three large public events, multiple online surveys and focus groups with Milwaukie's Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) community members. Summaries of the engagement that we received are available on this website.
The 2022 concept plan for Scott Park was approved by city council in December 2022 (see link below).
PROJECT TIMELINE
A detailed timeline is available on Engage Milwaukie when the project is launched.
- The first public engagement event was held on May 1 with more than 200 people in attendance.
- The second public engagement meeting was on Aug. 4.
- A third public engagement meeting was held on Oct. 6.
- Final plans were presented to the public on Nov. 16, 2022 at a special Parks & Recreation Board meeting.
- Final plans were presented to city council at the Dec. 6, 2022 regular session meeting.
- Final design and permitting are expected to be complete by the fall 2023
- Construction is expected to begin in early 2024 and be complete in the fall of 2024.
