Bing in the New Year
Date
The Milwaukie Arts Committee will host a free, family-friendly New Year’s Eve event to celebrate the Bing cherry, which was first cultivated in Milwaukie in 1875!
The community is invited to “Bing in the New Year” with the lowering of a 7-foot, lighted cherry sculpture at 9 p.m. (East coast midnight) in the parking lot at the intersection of SE Main and SE Harrison Streets in downtown Milwaukie.
This free event will include live music by Roadside Attraction, a Chinese lion dance performance by International Lion Dances, food for sale by Hearth & Soul Pizza bus, and a beer and mead garden by Wyrd Meadery and Ridgewalker Brewing. The Arts Committee will also unveil a new, permanent cherry sculpture by Tyler FuQua Creations, located in the sculpture garden next to historic City Hall.
The Arts Committee also needs volunteers to help make this event happen. Register to volunteer today!
