The city is designing a project to build a neighborhood greenway along Harvey Street between 32nd Avenue and 42nd Avenue and create improved connections for people walking and biking. The project is part of the Safe Access for Everyone (SAFE) program, the city's program to improve safety for people walking, biking, and more. It is funded by the SAFE program and the Street Surface Maintenance Program (SSMP)

Participants are invited to review, provide comments and ask questions regarding the 30% design. The Project Area Map, draft Concept Plan and Cross Section is below for review prior to the open house.

What this project will do:

  • Build a continuous sidewalk along the north side of Harvey Street and portions of 42nd Avenue.
  • Designate Harvey Street as a neighborhood greenway. Neighborhood greenways are low-speed streets, ideal for people getting around on foot and bicycles.
  • Repave Harvey Street between 32nd Avenue and 42nd Avenue and repave 42nd Avenue to SE Johnson Creek Boulevard.
  • Install a walking signal, also known as a Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacon (RRFB), at 42nd Avenue and Roswell Street.
  • Improve water, sewer, and stormwater facilities at various locations.

Parking will be maintained along the north side of Harvey Street.

Schedule
The project is currently in the design phase through fall 2024 with construction expected to begin in late 2024.
