Project Details
On Dec. 8, 2015, record rainfall caused significant scouring near the footings of the bridge on Milwaukie Riverfront Park that crosses Kellogg Creek. This is the bridge that is on city property in Riverfront Park, not the bridge carrying McLoughlin traffic. In March 2016, Hart Crowser provided geotechnical engineering services for an emergency repair of the existing bridge due to a bank failure that occurred during the rain event. Due to the compromised condition of the existing bridge and the cost of needed repairs, the city has chosen to replace, rather than repair the bridge. This new bridge alignment will be further west than the location of the current Kellogg Bridge. Also, once completed the footings will be separate from the McLoughlin Bridge.
Unless otherwise noted, the existing bridge will remain open during construction until the new bridge opens in the summer of 2018. During construction, pedestrians are encouraged to use the sidewalk on McLoughlin Blvd to access the north and south areas of the park. The boat ramp will remain open during construction unless otherwise noted.
