Overview
The community development department is responsible for delivering services that improve the physical assets and features of Milwaukie. It also provides the executive and administrative functions for the departments that are typically involved with this work, which includes planning, engineering, building and public works.
Additionally, community development works to spur growth in Milwaukie consistent with adopted plans, policies and aspirations. To this end, staff work with City Council, neighborhoods, and city advisory groups to identify and create programs, funding opportunities, development plans, and vision documents to guide Milwaukie toward its desired future.
The department works closely with other regional partners, such as TriMet, Metro, and neighboring jurisdictions, to effectively carry out its responsibilities.
