Milwaukians in Vietnam
Over two decades of combat in Vietnam and Southeast Asia more than 58,000 Americans made the ultimate sacrifice in response to the call to service; over 700 were from Oregon and 14 were from Milwaukie. These numbers, while grave, fail to include the millions of families and communities impacted by the Vietnam War. As Commemorative Partners in the national Vietnam 50th anniversary program, the City of Milwaukie and American Legion Post 180 dedicated three years to recognizing those who served and those who did not come home. On this page are the stories of Milwaukians who served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and did not come home.
