The community was invited to participate in a town hall to help City Council select up to three goals, which will help guide the city's work and funding decisions for the next three years. The town hall began with a short presentation at 6 p.m., but attendees could drop-in at city hall (10501 SE Main Street) to participate, or watch the opening presentation on the Zoom webinar (see link below), Comcast Cable Channel 30 in city limits, or the city's YouTube channel. Light refreshments were provided.

Community members are also invited to participate in a survey on Engage Milwaukie to learn more and provide feedback about goal ideas. The survey will be open until Jan. 12, 2025.

Here is some background about the goal setting process and next steps:

City Council regularly sets goals to articulate policy priorities and help direct resources to deliver timely outcomes. Generally, goals are set for two years. The current City Council wants to better align the timeline of their goals with the city's biennial budget calendar. They are currently considering what goals to select for 2025-2027. New goals would then be set in 2028.

The goal setting process kicked off in November 2024, with City Council generating a starting list of several potential goal "ideas." City Council will continue to discuss and finalize their goals for 2025-2027 at a retreat on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2025. They will select up to three goals that will help guide the city's work and funding decisions for the next three years (some goals may take less time to accomplish than others; the goal duration will be determined at the retreat).

Goal ideas will be finalized by resolution in mid-February 2025.
