Fact Sheet: Air Quality Monitoring Near Precision Castparts
On March 29, 2016, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) began air monitoring to collect samples at properties adjacent to, and in the vicinity of, the Precision Castparts facility at SE Harney Drive and SE 45th Avenue in Portland. The purpose of the monitoring is to determine if heavy metals associated with the facility's superalloy/steel casting foundry emissions are present above human health risk-based concentrations.
The fact sheet below, provided by DEQ, can help answer which air toxic metals are being monitored, how long DEQ will monitor the area, when DEQ will make the data available to the public, and more.
For questions or more information, please contact Anthony Barnack, DEQ air quality division, at 503-229-5713 or barnack.anthony@deq.state.or.us.
