Project Details

This project will replace the sidewalk on Main Street, between Monroe and Jefferson Streets, and install pervious concrete. The sidewalk foundation will be replaced with Silva Cells to help with tree root health and prevent sidewalk uplift. Additionally, stormwater utilities will be added to meet current demand.

Alerts & Updates

The Milwaukie Downtown Curbs and Storm Improvement project has started construction as of 2/12/2025! This project is designed to replace a section of sidewalk on the west side of Main Street between Monroe Street and Jefferson Street. Currently, the sidewalk is uplifted by tree roots along Main Street and with this project we hope to ensure that sidewalk uplift will no longer occur in the future. In addition, there are stormwater utility improvements on Jefferson Street and Monroe Street to provide increased capacity and service for many decades to come.

The city selected R.A. Roth Construction & Sons as the construction contractor. There will be road closures at separate times during the duration of this project. The road closures are as follows respectively: Jefferson Street, Main Street, then Monroe Street.

Jefferson Street closure will begin 2/12 through 2/17. The roads will be closed from 7am to 5pm. Main Street closure will follow right after.

This project is expected to finish by May 2025.

During road closures, we will ensure that businesses will have access, and the public understands that businesses are still opening during construction.

If you have concerns about this project. You can contact the City of Milwaukie project manager, Hector Gomez-Barrios.
