Project Details

This phase of the Meek Street pipe installation project will continue work constructed in 2020 during the south phase. The north phase will install new stormwater facilities between the previously constructed pipeline at Meek Street and the Roswell Pond open space. The new facilities will include 3,380 feet of new mainline pipe and a new detention pond near SE Balfour Street. The project alignment will generally run along the along Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way between Meek Street and the Roswell Pond open space. The project will complete accommodations for new development and alleviate flooding in the Harrison Street stormwater system.

Alerts & Updates

Update (09.09.2024)
Pipeline installation along the Hillside housing development is complete, and excavation at the detention pond at Balfour Street is underway. Pipeline installation on the Union Pacific railroad right-of-way was delayed through summer 2024, while the project team coordinated with Union Pacific on project work plans and construction safety. Work plans for the Union Pacific right-of-way work have been approved, however, and construction is scheduled for September 2024 through April 2025.

Update (10.26.2023)
Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2023.  The contractor is anticipated to begin mobilizing and setting up erosion control and tree protection measures, and locating existing utilities in the early part of the month, and will begin vegetation and tree removal efforts for the new stormwater detention pond at the west end of SE Balfour Street in mid-November.  General detention pond excavation at SE Balfour and open trench pipe installation at Roswell are anticipated to begin in December.  Construction of the detention pond will require removal of 49 trees due to allow for stable grading and installation of infrastructure.  The project team has worked to retain as many existing trees as possible and will replant 54 new trees onsite to restore and expand tree canopy.

Update (7.21.2023)
Bidding for the construction contract closed in late June, with Tapani Inc. submitting the lowest bid.  Execution of a Public Improvements Contract with Tapani was authorized by City Council at the July 18 City Council meeting.   Construction of the project is anticipated begin in late summer or fall of 2023.
