Washington-Monroe Street Greenway Open House
Date
Thursday, September 12, 2024 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm
Add to your calendar:
Stop by Wichita Park to get an update on the Washington-Monroe Street Greenway project. Ask questions, learn more about the project, give your feedback, and partake in light refreshments. Project staff will share a map of the current designs and a preliminary construction schedule.
The city is improving safety along a 1.25 mile stretch along Washington St., Garrett St. and Monroe St. This is called the “East Segment” of the longer Monroe Street Greenway. Check out the September 2024 Factsheet for the project attached below.
This project will:
- Build sidewalks on the north side of Monroe St. from Garrett Dr. to Stanley Ave., build sidewalks on the south side of Monroe St. from Stanley Ave. to Linwood Ave., and improve and connect sidewalks on parts of Washington St. and Garrett Dr.
- Narrow segments of the road and add traffic calming measures such as speed cushions
- Add "sharrows" and green striping on the pavement to show cars to share roadway with bicycles
- Upgrade many intersection curb ramps to make them more accessible to all users
- Add signs to intersecting roads to notify motorists of greenway crossings
- Connect the Monroe St. Greenway to the 37th Ave. multiuse path and the Linwood Ave. multiuse paths.
Learn more about the project on the project page.
Not able to attend the open house, have more to share about the current designs, have some questions for staff, or want to read through some FAQs? Public comments will be collected until Friday, September 20, 2024 on Engage Milwaukie.
