Section of Harrison Street to be closed for light rail work week of July 8

City of Milwaukie Oregon Official Website

During summer and fall of 2013, a series of Downtown street and roadway closures will take place as several track intersections are reconstructed as part of the light rail project and the City performs a pipe replacement project.

The next closure: Harrison Crossing Closure: Monday, July 8, 7 a.m. through Monday, July 15, 7 p.m.
The road closure itself is in effect all hours of the day but the work crews are only allowed to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Driveway accesses will be maintained for properties and pedestrian access will be provided on at least one side of the street.

The intersection work at Harrison, Washington and Adams Streets will result in new crossings with safety measures that will enable the City to enact its Quiet Zone designation so freight trains and light rail trains will no longer sound their horns when passing through town. The intersection work also includes new sidewalk, curb, and pedestrian crossings.

The City's Clay Pipe Project on Monroe Street replaces Vitrified Clay Pipes that are susceptible to chemical attack at their joints, are brittle, and due to their short lengths and numerous joints, are more prone to infiltration.

While the dates shown here are subject to change, weekly construction updates are posted on TriMet’s project page www.trimet.org/pm and on the City's projects page.

Other scheduled closures related to light rail work:

  • SE Monroe Street will be closed August 5-25.
  • SE McLoughlin Boulevard will be closed between Washington Street and River Road August 16-19 from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
  • SE Adams Street and 21st Avenue will be closed October 21- November 3.
