FEDERAL PROGRAMS
In addition to local, regional, and state programs, the U.S. Federal Government also supports business through several agencies and initiatives.
US Economic Development Agency
The U.S. Economic Development Agency is the only federal agency focused exclusively on economic development. It has a wide variety of tools and programs to help regions become more competitive including technical assistance, post-disaster recovery assistance, trade adjustment support, strategic planning and research evaluation capacity, and some grant funding programs.
International Trade Administration
The ITA exists to promote U.S. trade and investment, and help U.S. companies compete more effectively internationally and at home. It provides detailed market research, country profiles, export assistance, and other services.
The Small Business Administration provides extensive services to small-business owners and anyone looking to start their own business. They provide loans and grants as well as educational assistance. Local assistance is offered through the Portland District Office at:
