Police Chief's Statement About Immigration Enforcement

A letter to our community from Chief Burdick regarding Immigration Enforcement.

 

Recently, there have been increases in federal immigration enforcement efforts across the country. As this enforcement occurs, I acknowledge this creates uncertainty and possibly fear in some of our local communities.

Hit and Run case #25-000553

Can you ID?

The Milwaukie Police Department would like to enlist the community’s assistance with information about a vehicle involved in a hit and run. The pictured vehicle, (a white Mercedes sedan) struck a canine and barely avoided the dogs owner at the intersection of SE Hwy 224 and SE Freeman at approximately 8:20 AM on 1/26.

The driver stopped momentarily then continued East on SE Hwy 224. MiPD would appreciate information about the vehicle. If you are the driver of this vehicle, you are urged to contact the Milwaukie Police Department as soon as possible.

Milwaukie Police, Clackamas County Sheriff host interagency sex trafficking sting

Clackamas County, OR – This month Milwaukie Police led a joint mission with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office targeting purchasers/sellers of sex and human traffickers.

Milwaukie Police arrest child luring suspect

Milwaukie, OR – Early this month, Milwaukie Detectives joined investigators from FBI Portland, Portland Police Bureau and West Linn Police for a joint mission targeting adults actively attempting to lure and exploit children using online or internet based applications. During that mission, the Portland Police Bureau issued a release that two males were arrested for online child luring charges.

Spice Club

Each take-home spice kit will have:

  • 1 or 2  recipes 
  • Some spice to try out at home

Joseph Briglio Selected as Assistant City Manager

After receiving nearly 80 applications, Joseph Briglio was selected to serve as Milwaukie’s assistant city manager. He was chosen following a series of panel interviews that included both city staff and local residents as panel members.

Briglio was hired as the city’s community development director in 2021. He then began serving as the acting assistant city manager in September 2024 after Emma Sagor was named the city manager.

Milwaukie Fest

Milwaukie Fest is a 3-day party celebrating all the things that make this community such a great place to live. From July 11 to 13, 2025, the city will bustle with exciting shows, food and activities.  

Friday night will feature games and a movie in the park, presented by the North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District. 

On Saturday, four blocks of Main street are closed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for live artistic performances, vendors, craft activities for the whole family, a cornhole tournament and more!
