Juvenile taken into custody attempting to steal vehicle, firearm recovered
Milwaukie, OR- On December 29th at 10:07 PM, Milwaukie Police were called to the 10900 Block of SE Main St. on report of a male who had broken into a vehicle and was still at the scene.
Officers arrived and learned a 17 year old juvenile of Milwaukie had attempted to steal a vehicle at the location, entering the car by breaking a window. The teen was equipped with a screwdriver and explained they learned the theft procedure from a social media video. During the investigation, Officer’s located a loaded handgun in the juvenile’s possession, with the serial number appearing to be recently removed.
The juvenile was taken to the Clackamas County Juvenile Reception Center on charges of; Unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, attempted unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a firearm and obliterating firearm I.D. marks.
No one was injured in the incident and the handgun was not used in a threatening manner.
