Prescription Drug Drop-Off and Document Shredding Day
Date
Saturday, April 27, 2024 - 10:00am to 2:00pm
Add to your calendar:
The Milwaukie Police Department is hosting a prescription drug drop-off event on Saturday, April 27 in partnership with the the DEA. Volunteers are collecting any unused or expired prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Safety Building. Enter the Public Safety Building parking lot from Railroad Avenue and exit onto Harrison Street. Please have prescriptions collected in a bag or small box to hand-off to a volunteer.
Opioids are a serious public health issue across the country. Dropping off these medications serves several purposes: decreased chance for the user to become addicted to the drug, decreased chance for someone who enters a person's home (through a social gathering or other means) to steal prescription drugs to use it for themselves or sell them, and a decreased chance the drugs are flushed down toilets, which contaminates local waterways and harms wildlife.
Concurrently, the Milwaukie Police Department is hosting a sensitive document shredding event at the same location. Bring paper documents only that contain sensitive, personal information to be securely destroyed free of charge. Please remove staples and any other metal objects from the documents.
Please arrive with all items in a box or bag to simplify the collection process. Currently, document processors will accept two (2) document containers of material at no charge.
