Join visiting author Andrew Leland for a discussion of his book, The Country of the Blind: A Memoir at the End of Sight. We meet the author midway through his life with retinitis pigmentosa, a condition that ushers those who live with it from sightedness to blindness over years, even decades. He grew up with full vision, but starting in his teenage years, his sight began to degrade from the outside in, such that he now sees the world as if through a narrow tube.

Join Portland author Tove Danovich for a discussion of her book, Under the Henfluence: Inside the World of Backyard Chickens and the People Who Love Them. In Under the Henfluence, culture reporter Danovich explores the lives of these quirky, mysterious birds who stole her heart the moment her first box of chicks arrived at the post office. From a hatchery in Iowa to a chicken show in Ohio to a rooster rescue in Minnesota, Danovich interviews the people breeding, training, healing, and, most importantly, adoring chickens.
