City Council recently announced the recipient of the 2016 Volunteer of the Year award is Joel Bergman. This award recognizes a Milwaukie resident who has made a significant contribution to the community during the past year.

Fact Sheet: Air Quality Monitoring Near Precision Castparts

On March 29, 2016, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) began air monitoring to collect samples at properties adjacent to, and in the vicinity of, the Precision Castparts facility at SE Harney Drive and SE 45th Avenue in Portland. The purpose of the monitoring is to determine if heavy metals associated with the facility's superalloy/steel casting foundry emissions are present above human health risk-based concentrations.

If you have four hours to volunteer per week, consider becoming a Certified Ombudsman Volunteer.  This role is where you advocate on behalf of the resident, educate staff and families about resident rights, and investigate quality of care concerns.  

Adopt-A-Road

Concerned about litter in your neighborhood and want to do something about it? Neighborhood Associations and other groups can adopt roads in Milwaukie and pledge to pick up litter to keep the city looking great.
