Luke Strait Selected as Police Chief

Following a competitive recruitment process, the City of Milwaukie selected current Milwaukie Police Captain Luke Strait as the next police chief. He will replace Steve Bartol, who is set to retire on April 15.

“Stepping away from this position and moving into the next chapter of life is bittersweet, but it’s encouraging to know someone as capable as Luke is taking my place,” said Chief Bartol. “He’s an ideal fit for the department, and I’m confident they’ll accomplish great things.”

Yard Debris

Composting your yard debris is easy.

Either at home or at local facilities, composting yard debris helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve soil quality, reduces the need for chemicals and fertilizers, and saves water.

Reducing Food Waste

Reducing food waste is good for Milwaukie's environment and saves you money.

The Milwaukie community cares about the environment and creating sustainable waste management. Food waste reduction is also a strategy to meet our goals in the Milwaukie Community Climate Action Plan.

Accessory Dwelling Unit Code Audit

Families and individuals across the income spectrum want to call Milwaukie home. Financing, construction costs, building codes, and land use regulation requirements can make it costlier to build housing of all types and can limit the supply.

Workplace Recycling and Waste

From recycling to food scraps, workplace waste systems can cover many waste types while remaining simple and understandable.

There are many resources to help you streamline your garbage, recycling, and food waste systems to reduce your organization's contributions to the waste stream.

Requirements for Local Business Recycling

Businesses within Clackamas County have access to recycling as part of their dumpster or cart-based garbage services. Milwaukie has a local ordinance regarding business recycling including:

Home Recycling and Waste

Sorting recycling and waste at home doesn’t have to be confusing.

It can be a challenge to figure out what to toss, compost, or recycle at home. Clackamas County and Metro have resources to make it simple!

What goes where for home recycling and disposal?
