Arbor Day 2024
Date
Saturday, October 26, 2024 - 8:45am to 1:00pm
Add to your calendar:
Please join the City of Milwaukie for its annual Arbor Day celebration!
Trees make our community more livable by shading hot streets, cooling streets and homes, stabilizing soils, cleaning air and water, increasing property values, playing important cultural and historical roles, and contributing to the look and feel of the city.
ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION & TREE PLANTING EVENT – 8:45 AM - 1 PM
Join the city for our tree planting, free tree giveaways, and light food and refreshments. All are welcome to stop by and enjoy the festivities and learn about Milwaukie’s urban forest program.
To celebrate all that trees provide, the city is partnering with Friends of Trees to provide Milwaukie residents with low-cost trees that volunteers will plant in their yard and/or parking strips.
Residents within Milwaukie city limits can sign up to receive low-cost yard and street trees through Friends of Trees. The deadline to register for a tree is Friday, October 4 and tree orders must be placed by Sunday, October 13. Sign up for trees at https://friendsoftrees.org/get-a-tree/. Residents can contact Christine at ChristineS@friendsoftrees.org for questions about tree selection.
Community members can volunteer to plant trees in Milwaukie yards and planting strips, assisting the city in reaching community canopy goals. Planting volunteers are encouraged to register ahead of time online as events often fill up. Contact Friends of Trees for questions about registering or planting a tree through the event.
Sign up to volunteer and find event details on Friends of Trees event calendar page at: https://friendsoftrees.org/event-calendar/
Stop by the Arbor Day celebration to learn more about Milwaukie’s love of trees, and to help plant a tree yourself!
