Tree Maintenance

Milwaukie municipal code requires property owners to maintain trees in the right of way adjacent to their property. This includes street trees and vegetated right of ways.

Trees in the right-of-way must be pruned to 8ft clearance over sidewalks, traveled areas, and intersection corners, as well as 12ft clearance over streets.

Tree Establishment Care

Proper tree establishment care is essential to a tree's long-term health and survival. Learn how to care for your newly planted trees for the first few years so your tree will provide maximum benefits to you and your community.

Tree Planting

Milwuakie is committed to increasing the city's tree canopy to 40% coverage by the year 2040. The Urban Forest Management Plan was adopted to provide an outline to meet several goals, policies and actions that are essential in maximizing the benefits of Milwaukie's trees. Tree canopy coverage is increased through planting, proper maintenance and preservation.

Tree Emergencies and Retroactive Permits
