Moving Forward Milwaukie Phase 2: Central Milwaukie

City of Milwaukie Oregon Official Website

The Moving Forward Milwaukie project began in June 2012 and was completed in December 2015. City Council adopted the amendment package for central Milwaukie on December 15, 2015.

At the nexus of key transportation routes and adjacent to Milwaukie’s established neighborhoods, new development in Central Milwaukie needs to utilize this central location effectively and contribute to broader community goals. Land use, transportation and implementation plans will be created to ensure public policy reflects the community’s vision for this important commercial district.

Overview
This project is part of Moving Forward Milwaukie. The Central Milwaukie planning efforts will result in a land use and transportation plan for the area, as well as proposed Comprehensive Plan and zoning ordinance amendments.

Key Issues:

  • Use standards - what should be allowed in this area?
  • Design standards for new commercial development - what should new development look like?
  • Development standards - how large or tall should new buildings be? Where should parking be located on the site?
  • How can connectivity between different parts of this district be improved?
  • How can connections with other parts of Milwaukie be improved?
  • How can access by car, bike, and foot be as comfortable and safe as possible?

The Central Milwaukie phase of the Moving Forward Milwaukie project kicked off at the August 13, 2014, meeting of the project advisory committee. Additional materials will be posted here as they become available.
