Right-of-Way

Right of Way:  Protecting and Paying for the Public’s Lifeline from Metro TV on Vimeo.

On Sep. 6, 2016, City Council adopted an Ordinance adding Title 21 to the Milwaukie Municipal Code. Title 21 requires all utilities to have a contractual agreement or a license to use the city’s right-of-way.

The goal is to accurately identify all right-of-way users and ensure fair, market-rate compensation for the use of this valuable asset.

Backflow prevention videos posted to City's website

The American Water Works Association has produced two public videos that highlight the importance of proper selection and installation of backflow preventer and cross connection control devices. These short (about 5 minutes) videos are an excellent resource to educate utility staff, boards, decision makers and interested public about backflow and cross connection. The videos describe what it is, how it can happen and how it can be averted without a major cost to the community.
